Trends come and go but photo booths never seem to go out of style, even if the looks of them do.

Millennial couples, for example, have started gravitating toward open-air booths versus a closed option, which can allow for a bit more creativity and the ability to better tie it in with décor and design. Guests love them too because they are able to use their own phones and post pictures to their social media accounts immediately.

So, how can you make this concept a reality? We’ve got a few ideas to consider when planning your photo booth backdrop.

Candle Wall

If you are handy, think about creating a candle wall with pallets or build one out of wood. This creates a beautiful earthy, rustic look perfect for an outdoor wedding. Be sure to check with your venue first on what their policy is regarding open flames. If they don’t allow it, consider using battery-operated candles

Paper Lanterns and Traditional Lanterns

Paper lanterns come in a wide variety of colors, shapes and sizes. Using a wall, you can cluster them at the top and down the sides to create a fun a whimsical frame. Or string them on fishing line to create a full backdrop from top to bottom. The addition of LED lights will give the lanterns a little bit of a glow to fit with the wedding theme.

Traditional lanterns are also a great option. They can be hung at different heights to create visual interest, and are perfect for a more traditional, elegant feel.

String Lights

The twinkle of string lights is a perfect match for a photo booth. Whether you use them by themselves or incorporate fabric and draping for a more dramatic effect. You can find them in a wide variety of colors to fit your palette.

Additions

You can take your backdrop to the next level by adding flowers, greenery, streamers, fabric, wallpaper or even a quote. Most photo booths are standing, but why not add a vintage couch or chairs to create more room for additional people in the photo without making them bend down.

With so many great options it might be hard to pick just one. Think about marrying a few of the ideas together to create an eye catching and custom backdrop for your guests.
